About me
David Henson brings the intensity and excitement of a contact sport to teaching mathematics. By focusing on active, hands-on learning, he taps into students' natural curiosity, turning lessons into compelling explorations. From activities involving falling teddy bears, to investigations of data in cartoons, to scenarios with Minecraft zombie apocalypses, David designs inquiry-based tasks that maintain rigor through high engagement. With over 30 years serving Texas students and educators, he holds a Master’s in K-12 Mathematics Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Texas at Arlington. Currently, David serves as an educational consultant at Education Service Center Region 11, where he has spent the last six years supporting math teachers across 78 districts. He has presented regionally and nationally on creating engaging, accessible math experiences for every student. Let’s make math awesome!
